# Anthropic Steering API

The **Steering API** was an API provided by [Anthropic](/anthropic) that allowed developers to steer a subset of [Claude 3 Sonnet](/models/claude-sonnet-3)'s[^onlysonnet3] internal features. It was available in a limited access state from June 2024[^alexalbert] until ~January—April 2025.[^depr1][^depr2][^depr3]
