It was released on May 22, 2025 alongside [Claude Opus 4](/models/claude-opus-4). The model was [deprecated](/model-deprecations) on April 14, 2026 and retired on June 15, 2026. ## Status *Last updated July 7, 2026* Claude Sonnet 4 is currently **online** through Amazon Bedrock. It will be shutdown on October 14, 2026.[^bedrock] Google Cloud is listed as an active provider on OpenRouter[^openrouter] and Vercel AI Gateway[^vercel]. The better alignment properties of Claude Sonnet 4, which saw more such training, also suggests that further training would likely improve its alignment.
